The Salt Road

Place — Wilderness

A barren stretch of desert the Kinsfolk crossed during the Wandering, after turning away from Nareth — the Keeper they chose not to meet.

No knowledge was gained. No gift was offered. The Kinsfolk turned aside, and the road remembered what they denied. The land was dry, the water scarce, and salt crusted the earth beneath their feet. They rested out of Eyru's light, cloth pulled tight, then rose and walked when the world turned night.

The Salt Road is remembered in song as the cost of refusal — not punishment, but consequence. The road did not punish them. It simply offered nothing.
